Acquired a 1991 Harley FXDB-S (Sturgis in bad repair) now in the process of maybe not restoring but giving it some care
and getting back on the road...
Got new side stand spring for the bike, been told not an easy job to fit we will see...
Update:Don't know what the fuck people are on about on Harley forums about the fitting of this, I held the bike up a mate unclipped the old one and pulled the new one on with a piece of string, feckin easy two minutes MAX....
The Sturgis is running great, only a wee couple of drops of oil after a run, Hey she is 21yrs old aint worried about that, just need some stuff done over the winter, hopefully a long road trip on the cards for next year,....
Done 50 mile none stop run since new axle, 200 Miles over all, getting confidence back on her now, when I look back was a close call, had just done 95 MPH, then axle seized, Biker God's must be looking down on me..... (Greencastle, Co. Donegal, Eire.)
Didn't think I would get this far, in one year, the plan was for three, the long Irish winter and notorious bad weather helped, nuffin to do but work in the garage.....which is ok
Against all I have said., I decided to polish the tank while sitting in the garage after a few ciders, Tcut and Turtle Wax many times over, looks ok, but still not sure, will decide at a later date......
Finally got the Sturgis back on the road, new axle and bearings and stuff, here she is sitting in the sun with her sister, Sporty after the test run....
